LAND ETHIC is not something about which we have a choice. It is a responsibility that Anishininiwag have been entrusted by The Creator. This is not about posturing, but protection the Peoples, the Land, the Culture, the Environment, the Language, and the Way of Life for those yet unborn.
Opiikapawiin Services LP (Opiikapawiin) is 100% owned by a partnership of 24 First Nations located in Northwestern Ontario who were also the majority (51%) owners in Wataynikaneyap Power. Opiikapawiin Services Limited Partnership (Opiikapawiin) was incorporated in 2016 to provide services to Wataynikaneyap Power.
Wataynikaneyap Power is a licensed transmission company building a 1,800 km transmission line across their partner First Nations’ traditional territories to connect 17 remote communities to the electrical grid. It is a 100% owned First Nation business established by the partnering 24 First Nations located in North-western Ontario. Most owners in Wataynikaneyap Power are in the communities listed below. They are home to approximately 22,000 people living on and off reserve who will benefit from the transmission line and the programs and services of Opiikapawiin.
